FAQ: How do I use the Odyssey Financial Model?

FAQ: How do I use the Odyssey Financial Model?

Odyssey compiles your project inputs including load demand, generation capacity, project capex, and revenues for both project sites and project portfolios.

Excel Financial Model

The Financial section of Odyssey includes an Excel financial model. The financial model allows you to model more detailed sensitivities and additional revenue streams, or "key-maker businesses". The financial model automatically pulls in your project-level data including the load/customer category, your generation system, and all project costs.

1. Input the Financial module inputs

Follow the instructions above in the Odyssey Financial module inputs section to input the sensitivities and growths/ramps on the financials module first. These inputs will pull into the Financial model, any edits to these values will need to be made in the Odyssey platform.

2. Download Project Financial Model

Once you've completed the Financial module inputs, select the Download Project Financial Model button at the bottom of the page to save your inputs and download the Excel model.

3. Add Inputs in the Financial Model

After downloading the Excel model, follow the instructions in the "Instructions - MUST READ" sheet of the Excel workbook. All inputs you entered in the Odyssey platform project modules will be pulled into the Financial model, but will be locked for editing. All edits to project inputs must be made in Odyssey.

5. Upload your updated Excel financial model to Odyssey

Once the Summary financials look correct, you will upload the Excel financial model to the Financial page of your project in Odyssey. To upload the Excel model, save it on your computer and then select the Upload Project Financial Model button.

The financial outputs all come from the Summary tab of the model and take into account all inputs you've entered in the Financial model (including your Key-Maker Activities). If you want to make changes, you can Download the financial model, make updates, and re-upload.

Does your output field not match your Excel upload?
If you had made changes in the Odyssey Financial page since your last Download of the Financial model, your updates from the Financial page will be pulled into your Excel Financial Model to calculate your project financial outputs. To see the latest copy of the Excel Financial Model, press Download Project Financial Model after uploading your latest Financial model.
