Solar Power Naija - Downstream (Mini-Grid)

Applying to the Solar Power Naija - Downstream (Mini-Grid) Program

Once you've signed the grant agreement for REA NEP Performance-Based Grants Program, you are eligible to apply to the Solar Power Naija Solar Connections Programme. 

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN)’s Solar Power Naija / 5 M Solar Connections Programme is financed through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and leverages the Odyssey platform. Please read the guide thoroughly for instructions on how to submit an application to the Solar Power Naija (SPN) Program.


In addition to this participation guide, please review the complete Odyssey user guides and FAQs to troubleshoot any issues, or reach out to the Odyssey support team via the support chat box in the bottom right corner of the application.


i. Upload application documents 

  1. Select the Application tab
  2. Complete the Solar Power Naija application in the Form section
  3. Click Attachments at the top of the Application tab
  4. Upload all the required documents in the document checklist
    1. Click +New and select the files you would like to upload
    2. Select the destination for your files and add tags if you wish
    3. For some documents, templates can be found in the Program > Documents section
    4. Learn more about file management
  1. Submit your program application
    1. Ensure all required fields are completed and all required documents have been uploaded
    2. All documents marked by a red asterisk (*) are required to submit your Solar Power Naija - Downstream application. You will not be able to submit your application until all required fields have been completed
    3. Click the Submit button
      1. You will not see the Submit button until you have completed all the required questions. Once submitted you may no longer make edits to your application.

    ii.  Track your application status 

    1. Once you have submitted all the documents required for your application, your application status will be updated by REA to “Active” or “Incomplete”
    2. If your application status is updated to “Active,” it means your application is currently under review by the REA
    3. After this, the SPN Program Administrator will update your status to "Selected," "Incomplete," or "Rejected"
    4. If you are "Selected" you will receive an email notification with instructions on the next steps to take
    5. If your status is marked "Incomplete," you will have the chance to update and resubmit your application

    Messaging with program administrators

    You can communicate with the Program administrators via the Messages section provided under the program. To do this,
    1. Select Finance > Programs 
    2. Select Solar Power Naija - Downstream (Mini-Grid)
    3. Select Messages

    Sharing Projects with Solar Power Naija (SPN)

    Once you're participating, you will need to share your REA NEP Performance-Based Grants Program projects with the Solar Power Naija Program.

    To share your project:
    1. Navigate to the Project Submission module of the project. 
    2. Select the Share Project with Organization button 
    3. Choose “Solar Power Naija” from the dropdown menu
    4. Select the Save button
    5. On an ongoing basis, repeat the above steps for each claim submitted to REA.
